Morning everyone

Last Sunday night I had my first attempt at astrophotography, with help and advice from members on Stars Gazers Lounge forums in the UK.

I'm very excited, and wanted to share the result with you.

I have not bought a guide camera yet, so please excuse the quality, but for me, when I saw the image, I was shocked and super happy!

Setup:

Mount: Ioptron CEM25P

Scope: Sky-Watcher 80ED

Camera: ZWO ASI 294MC Pro @ 4 degrees celcius (the fuse in the cigarette plug charger was blown, so could not cool the sensor)

NO GUIDING, yet...

No fliters

Image sequence:

30 Light frames at 20 seconds eack

30 dark frames at 20 seconds each

NO Flats or dark flats, as I do not yet fully understand how to take those...

Software:

Acquisition with Astrophotography Tool

Stacking with DeepSkyStacker

Very light processing in GIMP, just color levels and denoise layer (help received in processing from forum member)

Here is compressed pic of the PNG file:

:)

Excellent! And they'll only get better when you figure out flats!

Really solid start.....nice one.

That's a great start. You will be a veteran before you know it.......then your bank account will empty as you buy a slew of equipment......most of it not essential.........just desired!

I am already broke!

Just before xmas, I had zero gear, and over the past 3 months I bought everything!

Sadly, due to the pandemic I have been hit financially, and need to let go of some lovely toys soon...

:(

Great start! The CEM25P can do pretty well unguided with your scope.

Can’t wait to see your progress!

Great work on the photo Oscar!

I hope you and your family are able to recover quickly and you can get back to astronomy and AP soon if you do have to sell some of your stuff, but keeping healthy, fed, and housed is pretty high priority.

Kind regards,

Ted

For no guiding and only 10 minutes of light, that's a great image!
