Okay has anyone done a Google search for Pixinsight help and one of the results takes you to the PI's forum where someone answered the exact question (based on the preview from the google search results) but when you click on it you get a generic Forum list with no answer??

thats happening all across and kind of unfortunate....

how do you resolve that?

I think, they recently changed their forum software. The easiest way is to use the forum search instead of Google.
If you are coming from Google, copy the title from the desired search result and paste it in forum search.

EDIT: Look at the answer in the post before meine. It is the better solution ;).

joelin,

I noticed the same yesterday. I found a relatively easy way to work around it.

  • Do the Google search you wish.
When you want to view a particular search result on the PI Forum,

  • Select and copy the TEXT of the Google Search result.
Use the mouse to drag from just left of the result to the end. That text gets put in your system's Clipboard.

  • Now, click the link of the Google search result.
This takes you to the PI Forum but dumps you on the main page.

  • Paste the Clipboard text into the PI Forum Search box.

  • You are taken to the results page which gives only one result (in almost all cases).
That result is the one you found via Google. It will the new version of the thread you wanted. You can reply if you wish as it is not pointing to the older read-only version of the Forum.

It sounds complicated but after a few searches, I found it did not slow me down much at all.

John
