The Scorpio region of the sky is rising in the early hours now, along with all those deep sky treats...Getting up at 4:00 am has never been easy, sometimes I find it easier just to wait up. It was definitely worth it this am, with a moonless sky and everyone else in bed, so no pesky neighbor's lights! Made it very easy to locate the Trifid in all its amazing glory:

I've never seen the trifid nebula- its always a bit low for my horizon obstructions- it's a shame because its a great object to view & image.

Thanks for the excellent picture.

Wonderful sketch! I have never been motivated to wake up early for astronomy. I can stay up until the sunrise, but I can't wake up before it. I need neighbors like yours, you know, the kind that turn off their lights at some point in the night! haha

My neighbor has put a horrible security light in his garden- the slightest movement in my garden & its flood light heaven!
