Hi all,

I've captured two images of Venus on 16th and 19th of March using my Celestron C8 SE and an ASI 178 MM camera + W47 + UV-IR cut filter, with a bandpass from about 350nm to 500nm. Several atmospheric details are visibile. These were processed as following: preprocessing and quality estimation with PIPP, stacking with AS3, wavelet processing with Registax 6.

I've recently heard about the AstroSurface stacking software, which seems to be working pretty well at extracting details from stacked images. However when stacking a Venus video I always obtain some weird ring-like artifacts. Anyone using AstroSurface or other softwarehad the same issue?

I have seen the rind effect many times along the sunward limb, but I have never seen the likes of the problem you have before. However, the light and dark patches are definitely not artifacts. The only thing I can suggest is experimentation with the processing software you use to see if you can get this defect to go away.

Hello,

I am interested by this trouble with AstroSurface.

Is it an 8 bits image or 16 bits image, RGB or mono before processing ?

Do you have the image just after the stack ?

Thanks,

Lucien
