It has been very cloudy at night here in Southern California lately. April 1st, 2020 is already here and I wanted to go out and do some astronomy and it is cloudy again.  Does anyone know where I can buy a cloud filter so that I can do my astronomy when it is cloudy?  All I see is grey, and I want to look at some galaxies and nebulae, so a cloud filter would be so useful to have but I cannot find any for sale.... Any help would be great!  I'll pay anything for a great cloud filter, especially if I can do astro-photography with it too!  Please help me find a cloud filter!

They have them in the Atacama Desert in Chile.  Cheap, too.  Problem is, you have to go there in person and bring all your equipment.  Oh yeah, and the cloud filters only work there, with sporadic success in most other places around the world.

Clear skies!

I believe the designers must have used Cloud Computing.

I met someone once who invented an obscure landing gear part that is installed on every plane made now-a-days.  He (I believe) collects royalties every time Boeing or Airbus (or whoever) makes an airplane and now is a multi-millionaire.  A guy with a good idea to address a need and you can make it big.  Moral of the story: figure out how to make a cloud filter and you can sell it to every astronomer, to the military, to the airline industry, and probably dozens of other fields of endeavor, and make a mint.

Since I am a cheap S.O.B., I will DEFINITELY buy one, but after the prices have come down.  Put me down for one!!!

On the other hand, the local news recently reported on the passing of a local fellow who invented the UPC bar code that is used on virtually everything you buy now-a-days. But he was an engineer at IBM when he did it, so even though his name is on the patent, IBM gets all the royalties.
