Hi. Not sure if this is the right forum. I recently bought a used LXD75 with autostar. The curly cable running from the handcontroller was wrapped around the tripod and pulled apart. Where would I get another cable or find a pinout chart so I can get one made. I thought it was just an 8pin xover but when I bought one there is no power running to the handset, (the screen doesn't light up).

Rather simply try an astronomy retailer.

It will be safer to get a Meade one.

Could suggest a retailer but are you UK, EU, US, Canada, Aus, S America? Where ???

The question "Where can I get" is rather related to "This is where I am".

You I hope know where you are, we have no idea. Especially on a first post.

Here's a link to the old Michael Weasner website with wiring information http://www.weasner.c.../as_cable3.html

There's a lot of info on the LXD models and Autostar there http://www.weasner.c...ostar_info.html

Be careful using a "random" cable.  Incorrect wiring can in many cases damage internal components.

Gday Mark

The 497/Audiostar curly cable is pinned 1-8.. 8-1

ref

http://web.archive.o...rg/pinouts.html

The outer 2 conductors are +12V and ground.

If you used a 1-1..8-8 type cable ( like an RJ45 patch cable ),

you may have reversed the polarity.

Thanks everyone for the good advise.  I'm from Western Canada so I will research out a proper Meade Curly Cord.

Assuming the cord I used was incorrect,  would there be damage done to mother board etc. ?

Is there an electronics repair ship anyone would recommend if needed.

Dont know, as normally, people put reverse polarity into the power socket

and this blows traces on the power switch panel.

Not sure what putting reverse polarity into the handbox would do.

With luck, it may just blow a noise filtering inductor, buit you will need to check.

All you can do is try powering it up and see if it works.
