Hi !

I have a question, I managed to include the comets from the file available at the IAU Minor Planet Center : https://www.minorpla...RB/CometEls.txt into Stellarium but it only goes back to Hale Bopp.

I'm having issue with Stellarium to download files direclty from the software, that's why I'm doing it this way.

I wanted to see the great comets from the past (such as the great comets of 1577/1680/1811/1840/1858/1861/1910 and so on ..)

Is there any MPC file available ?

Thanks !

Antoine.

Orbital elements for those comets are in the file Comets (453 KB): https://ssd.jpl.nasa.gov/?sb_elem

Thanks Beggarly,

Unfortunately I think that my Stellarium is broken because I don't see any comet older than 1995 after updating my software with this file.

I may need to reinstall it  ..

The Stellarium User Guide, section 12.8, describes a built-in solution.
