I was never a friend of color cameras, but I changed my mind.

The ASI2600 is fantastic. I made this 4,5h shoot of NGC6914

under good skies. Good for Germany, an Arizona observer maybe

says medium skies.

I have a few images in progress.

I've switched from an ed80 to an esprit 120 - the extra speed and aperture is nice

Working on abell 85

almost

And, i'm crazy - going after squid... the image on CN doesn't do it justice -  my stack is starting to show the squid which i wasn't expecting since i'm in bortle8 - compression/tiny image seems to hit the blue, but you can see the beak and city part and some of the tail showing up. pretty neat.

streched

I'll try and upload a squid tomorrow after a few hours of time i'm getting each clear night here.

Another one taken last weekend and beginning of this week:  10hrs total of RGB exposure in 300s frames; weather was kind for us in London.  I am very pleased with this camera.  More details and LRGB image here:

The ASI2600MC-Pro is my first color camera.  It is a nice camera.

This is another QHY268C image. First time created a full image (only test shots before) with the Optolong L-eXtreme, which is just a great combination with the camera. This was the first time I took a HaRGB editing approach based on narrowband-data and also working with RGB stars. I had to fiddle a lot with brightness/contrast, because I was not used to separate luminance and color data. Also not fully happy with the color. Still some fiddling needed wink.gif. But I am satisfied with what you can get out of this camera with CFA drizzle. Gives you great data to work with. And a very clean and high resolution H-alpha frame based on red channel.

This is almost 19 hours of 10 minute frames exposed in read-out-mode #1 (high gain mode) with a gain of 60.

EDIT: To give the above numbers some basis: I am under Bortle 5 skies (I thought I had Bortle 4, but was corrected by my new SQM-L ^^) and used the SkyWatcher ESPRIT 100 ED at native f/5.5.

Another mosaic with the ASI2600MC - this time 2x2 of the Pleiades (M45) in Taurus.  2hrs plus per panel.  Added L from the other (larger) refractor in my tandem setup to the synthetic luminance extracted from the OSC data and processed as LRGB from thereon.

Moon on 22/10. The full .tif file is 154MB. It would be nice to be able to post bigger files on here, as 500KB is not very big. The .jpg I exported from Cyberlink Photodirector is 2500KB! I've had to shrink it to 20% to post it, so 20% of the quality?.

Tried Soul Nebula (LBN 667) for the first time last night. This was shot with moon over 70% with the Optolong L-eXtreme filter and QHY268C. Exactly 9 hours (Bortle 4-5).

Stunning! Been after a 2" L-eXtreme myself, but out of stock everywhere. I'll get one at some point for sure.
