It was another early morning with Sinus Iridum. In the waning moonlight the shadows of the Jura mountain peaks could be seen on the floor of Sinus Iridum.

 

Sketch and Equipment:

 

For this sketch I used: black paper 6” x 8” sketching pad, white and black Conte’
pastel pencils , and Conte’crayons, 2 blending stumps, white Pearl eraser.
Telescope: 16 inch f/ 4.41 Dobsonian with 9mm (199x) eyepiece on equatorial platform
Date: 05-17-2020 , 04: 30 AM local time
Temperature: 21°C (70°F)
Clear, breezy
Seeing: Antoniadi IV
Co longitude: 206.3°
Lunation days: 24.1
Illumination :26.1%

Hello Frank,

that's an excellent sketch of Sinus Iridum! I have never seen it with sunlight from that direction. 4.30 AM is my preferred sleep time - but it seems to pay off to get up ;)
