I have the 2" APM roof & Baader Astronomical BBHS Amici prisms for single eye viewing. Both give excellent quality views.

What would be the best 1.25" RACI diagonal optically for use with bino viewers?

For me its the 1.25" Baader Zeiss BBHS. Great with my binoviewer as well as with Cyclops viewing. Even at a rediculous 1000X the star images are perfect in my FC100DZ. Rather than the Baader click lock I use the Baader helical micro-focuser, which is fantastic!

If you need to keep the light path short then a Baader T2 roof prism (245 6130) is probably your best bet in terms of quality and adaptability.

I have a Baader Zeiss Amici with the helical as well. At first I thought it wouldn't work with a bino, until I realised that it can be locked lol.

If you need to keep the light path short then a Baader T2 prism is still probably your best bet in terms of quality and adaptability.

It's not an Amici though.

TBH I just use the WO helical Amici with my WO bino's. I wind the helical to its maximum height to lock it. I only use the bino's for looking at the Moon with a 127mm Mak.

You’re right, I corrected my post to recommend the 245 6130 roof prism - outstanding and works well with BVs, I’m using it now with my MB II’s. Uses a Zeiss spec prism but much shorter optical length than the Baader 2” Amici.

With Baader diagonals, the part number is important - I find it very hard to distinguish one from another without it.

In my experience, 2" and 1.25" Amici diagonals can vary with focal planes. Some are noticeably longer than others. My 2" APM won't focus at all with my 72mm Evostar, but every other 2" Amici I have does. The bog-standard 2" Baader Amici achieves focus with the ED72 and a 36mm Baader Hyperion Aspheric, but it won't with a Baader dielectric.
