Hi,

I am new to this forum and new to astronomy and so my question may have been answered before.

I have a Skywatcher AZ GTi mount that has been upgraded to enable EQ mode and I have purchased a Polar EQ wedge.

The instruction manual is not helpful in explaining the initial setup for this combination.

Can anybody maybe post a photograph of the initial setup please.

I have aligned the tripod to North but I am not able to successfully reach any targets.

The mount is controlled by Synscan Pro and Skysafari 6 Pro.

Thanks in advance.

I don't have one but over in the mount section there are more than a few threads going on about this mount.

Thanks for looking.

I have been through quite a few YouTube videos but nothing really clarifies what should be relatively simple.

I have contacted SkyWatcher to try and find out but no response to date.

I will post my findings when I do hear from SW.

Seriously, check the mounts section. That's where the best information is for using that mount in EQ mode. Skywatcher will tell you right out that that mount was not designed to be used as an EQ. It just happens to have that capability.

Good advice thanks.

There is some really useful information in the mount section that I checked out.

To be fair to SkyWatcher they do say that this is not an EQ mount but they have made the firmware available.

Patchy results may be the downside of this configuration.

The Polar wedge is designed for use with the Star Adventurer in reality.

Luckily it is not an expensive setup and I could sell it on eBay and buy something specifically EQ and GoTo.

I like the light weight and portability of the mount.
