Has anyone tried replacing the visual back of their Orion 127 Maksutov? I have scratced the nosepiece of the diagonal and dont want to do more damage. Any suggestions would be helpful.

On my Orion 127mm Mak I put on a Blue Fireball SCT Thread Adapter and then a Blue Fireball Eyepiece Holder.

It hosts a GSO 1.25" 90-deg 99% Dielectric Mirror Diagonal.

Works fine for me.

Baader 32mm T2 diagonal threaded directly into stock visual back works nice. No thumb screws needed. I used this setup with binoviewer. It was very rigid connection.

Scope stuff sold a ring that accepts sct thread accessories. I actually used 2" diagonal and eye pieces with good results despite the naysayers. But you can always just use a 1.25 visual back from celestron or meade if you don't want to upgrade to 2"

Pretty much what I have done in the past. Once the SCT thread adapter is on, you can attach 2” diagonals as well. ScopeStuff sells the adapter as well - finding it on the site is another matter...
