I've got an original nexstar 5 ( silver colour) , the handset is not working so properly and was thinking I'd like to buy the Celestron WiFi dongle. But are unsure if this works on my series of model or does anybody have any ideas of what to do or purchase another handset, open to suggestions.

"Not working so properly"   Have you checked power supply voltage or tried another power source?  Might also want to check connection by holding pressure on it while operating the controller.

Link  for controller.  Good luck.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm not so technically minded and will either buy a new handset, or would the WiFi module work with my nexstar 5 as an easier and better option?

I can't say for sure, but judging from these two links, I doubt the wifi module would work.

Hand controls are no longer made that will work with the N5/8. What are the issues with your controller?

The only hand control that works with the original NexStar 5 is the one designed specifically for it:

https://www.nexstars...mpatibility.htm

Almost every hand control you will find is newer and incompatible.

And the original NexStar 5 is incompatible with the Celestron WiFi module.

As others have asked, what issues are you having?

Best regards,
Mike Swanson
