Super-cool/super-rare Edmund Giant Focuser. This is the first time I've seen one of these for sale outside of the old catalogs! Wow! Perfect for that big period-correct Jaegers refractor you've been dying to build. It would be amazing on a 5" or 6" F5 RFT!

Looks pretty good, and it's right in my backyard.

I wonder how it would look in my backyard? . . . no, no, no . . . I can't, I shouldn't, I don't have room, I don't need it . . .   Not now, but a few years ago, I would have.

Seems like a good deal     if it were nearby it would be hard to resist bringing it home for a test drive and probable addition to the stable of classics      but does it  live in the garage?   Where do folks keep big Newts?  Storage is also a concern for some .. (Based on pics posted over the last few years clamchip must have a warehouse/barn  style garage)

Also   there was one of these 8's in green in NY State last fall and I regretted not going to get it but it was  a big scope and the seller offered help for loading into a truck

and a book on classic telescopes...…

This one looks good and the price is excellent. It's a Meade's 277 60mm F5. Looks a lot like a Tasco/Vixen 9VR. Richmond Va area. I'd buy it but I've got enough short tube 60s these days.

For me, the big guys stayed out in the garage.  Here's a picture before I sold off the 10" f/7:

The Swift cleaned up better than I thought it would.  It was very dirty as if it was sitting in someones room and had not been dusted for years. The objective is covered with grime and dust and I haven't touched it yet. Any threads out there on cleaning old dirty objectives? Came with 5 eyepieces that seem high quality for the time period. I doubt I'll use them much as I'll get a 1.25 adapter.  The eyepieces are also quite dirty. I've spent a couple hours cleaning it so far and it doesn't look bad. Almost complete, needs a couple knobs and objective cover. I will take it out tonight.

For the benefit of those who need things spelled out very clearly , I recommend buying the  Meade 277 located in Virginia -mine here in Indiana is definitely NOT for sale .  My 277 , like its cousins Celestron CO-62 and Tasco 9VR,  is a great picnic or patio table sky sweeper as well as bird (or other nature) watching scope.

I wouldn't get too excited just yet. I have a feeling the $10 is for the air mattress and they'll be wanting offers for the telescope.

I had one with drop dead optics, but the mount was a joke of a bloke. Bad enough with a 6" let alone a 8" F/7... At least it has a nice mount.  Not anywhere near FL as always. I would pay 700 all day long.

Oooooooooooo... I could see that on my Dakin 4, but the base-plate would have to be re-tooled... Always a catch.

Hopefully only once!  Depending on the rate, that could get pretty expensive.
