My sky when I shot the string through those clouds. smile.gif Unbelievable but it's possible. The secret is camera settings.

So I'll bite, what are the camera settings?

Dan, here you have a  report:

Camera=Grasshopper3 GS3-U3-23S6M
Filter=B
Profile=Jupiter
Diameter=45.13"
Magnitude=-2.60
CMI=157.0° CMII=85.4° CMIII=151.7°  (during mid of capture)
Filename=133415_050620.ser
Date=050620
Start=133402.330
Mid=133415.234
End=133428.138
Start(UT)=133402.330
Mid(UT)=133415.234
End(UT)=133428.138
Duration=25.808s
Date_format=ddMMyy
Time_format=HHmmss
LT=UT
Frames captured=800
File type=SER
Binning=no
Bit depth=16bit
ROI=1920x1200
ROI(Offset)=0x0
FPS (avg.)=30
Shutter=32.16ms
Gain=1233 (41%)
SoftwareGain=10 (off)
Sharpness=1024 (off)
Brightness=16 (off)
Mode7=off
AutoHisto=60 (off)
FPS=100.0 (off)
Gamma=1290 (off)
AutoExposure=off
Exposure=408 (off)
Histogramm(min)=212
Histogramm(max)=4036
Histogramm=98%
Noise(avg.deviation)=n/a
Limit=800 Frames
Sensor temperature=49.4°C

So, even I can run the camera to 85 fps at 12 bpp, I had to increase the exposure because of the tiny clouds and automatically, the fps decreased at 30. The fortune was that it was no turbulence in the atmosphere.

Cheers!

Gabriel

Nice work through the clouds, don’t know what to expect when you have clear skies?

Always interesting detail
