I have a pair of Zeiss microscope eyepieces adapted for 1.25" eyepiece holders.

Can anyone tell me the focal length of these eyepieces? I use them in a binoviewer in several refractors and would like to approximate the magnification,

They are marked:     44 41 32

                                 PI 10x18

Thanks for the help.

A 10x microscope eyepiece has a focal length of 25mm.

Hello Bill,

the conversion of the microscopy EPs magnification into the folcal length is 250mm divided by the magnification inscribed on the EP.

The second number, in your case 18, is the field in mm, should the microscope objective have the magnification of 1x. Otherwise, the AFOV of your EP might be close to 40°, without trying the math.

Pl is the level of the planar correction of your EP, in this case, it should be planar within up to 40°.

Best,

JG

Thanks guys.

Now I have answers when asked "what are these?" I also have UO ortho's all of which are small, light and very good with the bino. The issue these days is my aging set of Mark-1 eyeballs.

Bill,

on the side of observing comfort,

the Zeiss and Leica EPs with the 30mm insert for the binoviewers and stereo microscope,

offer a high observing comfort, optimized for the work force in the labs making an 8 hours shift with a microscope.

Another point makes the excellent optics of these EPs.

Best,

JG
