Hi,

check San Jose Astronomical Association - they have equipment loaner program

https://www.sjaa.net...escope-program/

I never used it, but it seems that for $15 you can become member of SJAA and be eligible to loan a telescope.

Good Luck and Clear Skies!

Best,

Andrey

Assuming that you've already searched for a suitable vendor and failed to find one, could you give us some additional information, such as what exactly you need that that the online vendors couldn't supply? Equipment type for example or perhaps you need the option of a local pickup or drop off. The Bay Area is a large place, nine counties, it would help to know your destination, preferences  and radius of action.

back to days gone by, and probably passed forever;

I have had some very good experiences renting/ using scopes from Astronomy B&Bs including

Tak 6", Meade 7" , 6" f15 refractors,22,  25 and 30" dobs, 12 &16 SCTs,  15x120 & & 25x150 binoculars

This helps one to decide what one really wants, and do not want.
