I bought this telescope for my daughter because she has a real interested in astronomy. It was missing a few screws and the rod that held the balancing weight. I was able to get the screws and fabricated a new rod for the balancing weight. The problem is it didn't come with a manual and there are a lot of different eyepieces and adapters that we know nothing about. There is a little silver item that is on the tripod mount that I can't figure out what it is for.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same telescope as a kid, but it was branded as a Jason Cometwatcher.

There was a thread on the same telescope at: https://www.cloudyni...-have-i-bought/

There are a few pics that will show how the mount parts assemble.

I don't know if a manual is available for that exact model.  Everything except the finderscope similar in operation to to other telescopes.

Do you mean the little silver thing that looks like a lever?

If so, I believe it is there to engage or to disengage a CD.

Congrats and welcome on board. That Tanzutsu telescope has been sold under a number of brand names, I've seen a few in bright orange sold in Canada as "Carl Wetzlar".

The part labelled "T-adapter", if I'm not mistaken, will allow you to mount a camera to the focuser. T-rings are specific to different cameras, and will join the camera objective to the T-adapter.

Sorry for the slow reply . . .

Your mount, and similar mounts allow for a clock drive to be attached.  The chrome lever engages and disengaged the clock drive when needed.

I will look around for some pictures, unless someone else finds one first.

Edit:

Take a look at some of the photos here:  https://astromart.co...-ra-clock-drive
