Per Skywatcher, the max weight specification for this mount is 11lbs, which seems very close to the weight of many of the commercially available 6 inch newts out there. From what I have seen on this forum, smaller refractors are a popular choice, but does anyone here have experience using a fast (f/4 or f/5) 6 inch newt on this mount? I guess there would be a fair amount of vibration after slewing near the weight limit, but can the mount otherwise acceptably support a 6 inch newt?

Thanks!

A 6" f/4 is likely feasible but expect a lot of vibration. Upgrading the dovetail clamp and tripod would surely help.

6" f/5? Wouldn't dream of it!
