Is this a good tripod, alt-az head for a short 80mm refractor? How is the pan head? I have a big no-name tripod and pan head now, but the head (unremoveable) is hard to position because of a degree of gravity-induced backlash. Would this one be an improvement? I like the idea of a photo type tripod because it preserves airline portability.

thanks

I have the Paragon that you link to.
It's okay, I really want to love it, but it's okay.
I use it for travel with my ST80.

The Versigo would have no problem handling a ST80, but a little heavy for airline travel IMHO.
