HI all...

For visual use, which of these two models, do you prefer?

And, what range of eyepieces would be the best?

- TS-Optics Doublet SD-APO 125 f/7,8 FPL53/Lanthan

- TS-Optics Photoline 130 f/7 FPL53 Triplet APO.

Prices are very similar.

Is the lens, made in China?

Thanks

The Triplet will have better color correction which would be my choice, however it also will be heavier and take a little longer to acclimate.

Ohara in Japan makes the FPL 53 blanks, but they are polished into the lens in China.

You are comparing the 2.5" focuser triplet to the 125 doublet.

Yes they are similar in price.

F/7 vs f/7.8

10.3kg vs 7.6kg

When the 2000 euro 130 f/7 triplet returns to their site it may look like this 3.7" focuser model in coloured trim

I had the TS Photoline 130 f/7 FPL53 triplet, for a refractor yes it was excellent visually - indistinguishable from the vastly more expensive AP130GTX.

However... side by side with a very good 150mm f/8 newtonian, the newtonian was the better.

I parted with it when upgrading to a 9” mak.

These f/7 refractors are primarily for imaging. For visual there are better solutions depending on whether DSO or the planets are your main thing.

I bought the TS 130mm F/7 APO for visual use and love it. Excellent optics, very sharp, and great resolution. No color with high power eyepieces (4mm - 5mm).  Most of my eyepieces are ES 68° and 82° lenses. I have some Tele Vue lenses as well.

I’m considering the 130mm for visual use, too. Do you think the AZ Pro would handle it ok?

Well, FWIW i have a TS  102 mm doublet FPL53/lanthanum at F/7, ,its colorless, great scope..even photographicly no colors.

Comes with a price but imo worth every penny.

Triplet should be better in theory, but if one can see it , i doubt it..
