Bruce, I'm very satisfied with the 130s performance. In fact, more satisfied and content than I have been in years and that says a lot because I don't know if amateur astronomers are ever satisfied. Each time I have it out becomes a pleasant experience.

I'm waiting. So far, nothing has shown up, so far no delivery date..

In Mike's defense, it's unreasonable to expect a scope to be delivered if I haven't ordered it.

But I'm thinking Mental Telepathy..

Send Jon an AT-102ED

Send Jon an AT-102ED

Send Jon an AT-102ED

Everyone who reads this is sending Mike this telepathic message... Will it work?

It worked once.

(Sorry for this feeble attempt at humor, hopefully it will make someone waiting for a scope smile.)

Jon

The latest group email  from Astronomics today suggested that if you know what you want,  pre-ordering is a good idea because of limited supplies. They don't expect availability from regular store inventory until at least Feb of next year. I liked the way they put it,  something like  - Plant your flag somewhere if you want a scope.

So I'm not sure if mental telepathy is gonna work. Let us know though.smile.gif

I will..

Back in 2007,  I really wanted a faster 4 inch ed/apo.  There were none I could afford. Then Astronomics announced the AT-102ED and i was super interested. They had one, the very first one. Well, it turned out that Tom Trusock was too busy to test and review it so they sent it to me to review. I ended up buying it.

So there is some history here.

To repeat:

Good evening!

I'm new here and so so happy to see I'm not the only one checking their email every 5 min for status on this batch... lol.gif

I'm waiting for the 130EDT and called today: can report that the latest shipment is out of customs in LA and on a truck headed east. (Though mine has to turn right back west again..)

Welcome Hans and might I say what a great choice in scopes you made. Glad you'll be enjoying it soon.

That's a slow truck! And before anybody says, "patience", its tongue in cheek! I understand they need to be checked, tested, etc.

I don't mind waiting if I know that my scope is going to be checked and tested. However, I'm not sure if that will be the case. My impression was that Astronomics will be doing spot testing across the whole shipment. I could be mistaken, so take that with a pinch of salt.

I agree, I certainly would rather wait and have them test each one first.

Thanks Mike!

What circumference do you have on the front of the 130 - what length dew band do you use? (Might as well get some of that equipment updated to fit while I wait..)

Hans

hamsterdance.gif rockon.gif  Got my email today too.

I'm thinking a camo paint job, or flames!

One guy did that with an AP130EDT.  Can't give it away now...people have gotten drab.  20 years ago, you'd see cars with actual colours.  Now it's a SEA of dull grey, black and white paintjobs.

Welcome to the queue. Misery loves company. I have a tripod, mount and eyepieces but no AT102EDL! At least it gives me time to save for DSC and encoders.

Welcome aboard, Job!

Were there any specific reasons/features that convinced you?

Bruce.

The truck must be making a lot of pit stops... It should be about 20 hrs from LA to Norman, OK. I keep telling myself... patience, patience. lol.gif

Thanks, Bruce!  It will only be my second refractor next to the WO Z61 and I decided on the 4" class because it's still fairly grab-n-go and seems like a perfect match for my MC2 mount.  I often mull things over for a couple months before I buy, and simply put, the AT line just screams value.  I don't find many scopes from mass producers with guaranteed strehl ratios and while I would love to find an American assembled scope to purchase there is just nothing remotely equivalent for the price.  I'm an imager as well as visual but my Z61 has convinced me I don't need a premium triplet just yet.  Lastly, I get to support an OK based shop with my dollars!

My AT80ED came in last week. I was surprised by how heavy it feels. I'd swear it weighs as much as my Z8. It's a great looking scope. I hope you all get your scopes soon.

I was thinking this morning, there was no update email on Tuesday, does that mean they skipped it since they are working through the delivery? :)

It could be. Mike said when an order comes in it's all hands on deck practically non stop until they're done.

I'm patiently awaiting my first scope, at AT60ED!  Can anyone tell me what diameter the dew shield is?  I'd like to order a Bahtinov mask for it.  All my attempts to locate info on google or cloudynights have failed.

Just ordered one too for imaging, would love to know as well... I am also wondering if there are threads at the end of the focuser for a t-ring?
