We are looking to add a few members to the Cloudy Nights team as Moderators.
Cloudy Nights has grown to be the world’s largest forum for the discussion of astronomy and related topics. The forum is international and family friendly and has high standards for online behavior that help keep it the wonderful, interesting and fun place to learn from, share, and socialize with others with the same interests. Behind the scenes a small group of dedicated volunteers helps to maintain the atmosphere that we all enjoy here.
From time to time we seek to add to that group of volunteers as our needs evolve. At this time we are seeking to recruit volunteers to join the group. If you are interested in joining a close knit group of individuals working to help the keep the community we all enjoy we would like to hear from you! While we welcome all applicants, though not all will be chosen. In general the successful applicant will have been a member of Cloudy Nights for a year or more and have been an active member of the community (usually having made around 500 or more posts). Moderators work closely with each other and with the site administrators and are expected to check in to Cloudy Nights frequently with most successful moderators checking in at least daily. After completing training individuals are usually are assigned to the moderating teams for approximately four forums where we have need (we do try to assign them to at least one forum where they have a personal interest).
We do provide training and decisions are often made as a group process. There is a strong sense of camaraderie and community among the moderator and administrator ranks. Even if you don’t meet the specified qualifications if you are close we encourage you to consider applying. Not all are selected at first application but we do hold on to names for future needs. We look forward to welcoming you to the team!
If you are interested in joining the team we encourage you to apply by sending a PM to me!
