Hi,  I hope i have posted in the correct section here.

I have been looking at the starsense autoalign for skywatcher telescopes.

I have a Skywatcher 16" Dobsonian and was thinking about installing one of these starsense autoalign for skywatcher telescopes.

Dose anyone know if they will work on the goto Dobsonians?  or are they only made for the Skywater tirpods?

I have just been getting a few hit and misses when doing the 2 star alignment setup with the goto.

Nothing wrong with the setup procedure, even using a cross hair eye piece to centre the stars.

Worst run i had was after an alignment it didn't even pick up Jupiter in the 20mm eye piece.

So was looking at giving this starsense autoalign for skywatcher telescopes a go if they work with the goto mounts.

Has anyone had one on these mounts before and are they worth it?

I don't believe it works with the DOB's.

From their web page: "Compatible Sky-Watcher Mounts HEQ5|EQ6|AZ-EQ5|AZ-EQ6|EQ8|AZ SynScan compatible mounts"

https://www.celestro...-watcher-mounts

It also works with the equivalent Orion mounts too.

Thanks for the reply,  yes,  the mounts listed was what kind of got me a tad confused,  as when you look at the photos at the bottom of thier description,  they have a photo of it mounted to a Dobsonian.

I don't see why not?

The pic clearly shows a Dob and the "AZ Synscan compatible mounts" fits the Dob also.

It only works with scopes that have a SynScan handset - the Skywatcher mounts contain a board internally with firmware and it won’t work without that.

If your dob does, it should work.

I was given one for Christmas but found I cannot read the text without magnifying glass - it was microscopic.

Also the camera mounting is really designed to be bolted to a Celestron SCT - anything else will require a new bracket. And yes they went out of their way to make this difficult.

BTW if you are having issues with GOTO I’d suggest you look closely at flexure in your scope - right down to the baseboard.

Starsense for Skywatcher comes with two mounting brackets.  One for SCTs and another that will fit a typical Synta finder foot.

I would ask Celestron if it works with the Skywatcher GoTo DOB's.

My Starsense (original) came with a smaller Synta foot/base bracket also (as seen here). I think they all do

I would ask Celestron if it works with the Skywatcher GoTo DOB's.

Best to confirm, but here's a review (and pic) of a SW Dob + SSA
