Hi Everyone,

Here is my first attempt to image the Rho Ophiuchi region from 41*N where it only rises about 25* above the southern horizon.  I've long wanted to image this but it would take several clear nights in order to get a reasonable integration with my old setup.  Not so with the RASA!  This is 1.8 hours (219 x 30-seconds) total integration time.  The light gradient was really wicked due to the low altitude, and that took me a few tries to figure out how to handle it given that the field is full of nebulosity that I didn't want to kill, but I'm very happy with how it turned out.smile.gif  Using the GradientXTerminator plugin in Photoshop - with Detail set to "Coarse" and Aggressiveness set to "Low" - gave the best results. I had already done Photometric Color Calibration in Pixinsight, so I unchecked the "Balance background color" option.

Clear skies,

Damien

I especially like the crispness and contrast of the dark filaments and swirls: well done!

I think you are losing a lot of precious detail and having to use aggresive and destructive noise reduction due to the short exposure time. While the RASA is fast I recommend you get at least 6 hrs per target specially with a color camera with small pixes.

Pretty cool Damien. Nicely done with the RASA capture and the gradient processing.

Thank you, Paul.  Yes, it was with the 183MC Pro.
