There is reference to a similar pair here: https://stargazerslo...ts-the-minimum/  - These were apparently labelled "Viking by Panorama", but these are very similar and labelled "Viper by Panorama"

https://www.easylive...tables-lot-381/

- according to these references they might have been made by the Tohyoh Company, based near Tokyo... As you pointed out, the oval-shaped sticker label seems to be a faded version of the standard QC label that was placed on Japanese optics.

All the best,

Dean

(PS: Just edited this: the second link wasn't working: and here is another link to Tohyoh 20x80's: https://www.worthpoi...-wide-170054436  )

HI  dean!   thanks  for your  research.  your  2  link   is  the  same  bino.   the  Tohyoh  brand  have   labeld   on  there   bino's [ your 3 link]  is  not   viper  model  [ my  pictures]  so  I  dont  believe  it  is  Tohyoh  brand.  anyway  I  it  is  japan  made  I  believe  [ I  have   2  japan  vintage  bino's]  .  waite  for  someone   of  the  members   that  have  now or   before    this  bino...regards  -  publin

Hello publin.  I searched and found nothing worthwhile.  They look easy to work on so if the price is good, I would take the chance and buy them.  New Celestron Skymaster 20x80s go for $140 (B&H in NY) and new 15x70 Skymasters go for about $80.  These binocs are reasonably good if you get a decent pair--one needs to see them first or buy from B&H with a free return policy.  This may help you in deciding how much to pay for the legacy Vipers.  Good luck. HI  Djr1!    on   simon   spiers   reviews   there is  30x80  Tohyoh  brand    [ japan]  similar   shape and   label    to   this  viper 20x80  but    bed   review!   so  even  the  price  on  UK   ebay   is   attract !   BTW   I  have  the   15x70   celestron   bought  in  sale  in  B&H   shop   in  NY.  [  recommended     shop   for  there  price   and   second hand  DEP.  ]   regards  -   publin
