I have the ASI224MC camera for planetary photography.  I'd like to take advantage of this camera as an autoguider.

What autoguider finders with helical focusing in the 50mm-60mm range would work with this camera with the proper back focus?

For example looking on the Agena site most of their finders require the "Designed for use with small-chip CCD autoguider cameras having a 1.25” nosepiece".

Which implies the smaller 1.25" diameter camera's which need to be inserted deeper into the finder to bring the chip into the focal plane of the finder.

The ASI224MC has about 12.5mm of back focus with the 1.25" nosepiece attached.

What are you guys using with this specific camera?

Thanks for the input.

Val

I use this Astromania 50mm guidescope with the ASI224.  https://www.amazon.c...f_=ast_sto_dp

I use the 1.25" nosepiece, sliding it in to get close, then the helical focuser for fine focus.  It works well.

That looks very nice for the price.

I like the T-thread option to mount.

Thanks!

I use the Orion Deluxe Mini 50mm Guide Scope with Helical Focuser. Don't forget to remove the IR-Cut filter. You might as well collect as much light from the guide star as possible.

Thanks Steve!

Another good choice, looks like it just fits the 12.5mm back focus requirement.
