My clear skies forecast is bloody red for the entire week...summer has sucked so far. In winter I had 2-3 clear nights a week. Now I'm getting maybe 2-3 clear nights a month.

Cloudy and/or rainy here for the better part of a week now...and when It's clear, the heat and humidity are high (very).

It seems the forecast for this evening (8-16-20) is somewhat better...

Looked outside to check the skies and wow not a cloud in sight. Went back in the house, grabbed my computer and battery for my telescope opened the roof on the observatory, checked collimation, aligned to Saturn and Arcturus then went back to Saturn to take a longer look. After a minute or two Saturn began to dim and brighten then totally blanked out. The wind direction must have changed and blew in smoke from all the fires and after maybe 10 minutes the entire sky is covered with smoke. Lesson one to learn from this hobby is patience. If you don't have it when you start you better learn it quickly lol.

seeing the moon or sun through the clouds is the Midwestern definition of "clear".

Sounds like my situation. Its been cloudy to one degree or another most of this summer. I think I've been out 3 times since late May. It can be clear in the morning and all afternoon but as it enters into early evening the clouds race in. Compounding the hassle is that I have to get up early for work so I'm really only limited to weekends.

Terrible weather this summer. So many nights wasted. The worst is clouds with no rain. If we had some rain, I could perhaps even enjoy the clouds. It's like when it's cold without snow - what's the point, Mother?

Too hot here in FL anyway. I break out in a sweat just walking out to my car at midnight.  Thats the only reason I am not upset about waiting 4 months already for my new dob... just hoping it arrives THIS winter and not next winter.
