I recently joined as I enjoy reading the reviews posted, especially those relating to Swift binoculars. Awhile back I bought a Swift Triton circa 1968 in beautiful condition and got hooked. I was amazed at the clarity of performance. This started an interest in vintage Swift binoculars.  Not knowing anything about the Swift Medalist, I took a chance and purchased them last year, off the internet. I haven’t any experience with the Audubon models which are rated very high from what I read, but I can’t imagine them being any better than this Medalist from the 50’s. They are 8x40 with a fov of 445’ at 1000’ and are CF. They are clear and sharp right out to the edge of view. I was blessed in that they are in like new condition and I’m sure will have these great glasses for the rest of my life. I have searched the web and haven’t found any discussion on these except for the Swift 1956 catalog page I am attaching that I found on Miniature Binoculars website. They have the manufacturer engraved on the center post cap underneath as “Made in Japan for Swift” with the “FPO” Mark in the middle. I’ve managed to acquire some additional Swift models that are great but none can match the view of the Medalist, in my humble opinion. Not to say there aren’t superior glasses out there.

I would love to hear back any information on the Medalist if there are any other owners out there. I’m somewhat a novice regarding the technical aspects any onsite would be appreciated.

Great website, really enjoy it. Thanks!

Hi

I have never held that model in my hands but the FPO marking indicates these were made by Fuji Photo Optical and I've never been disappointed by optics from this maker. Performance and quality shall be top notch.

Regards,

Ant1

Here’s some better photos I hope. The bottom of the objectives look worn but it’s just reflecting light on the edges.
