The view was enhanced by smoke and high thin clouds that visually blocked out all stars fainter than second magnitude. Mare Tyrrhenum Apygia, Syrtis Major, Hellas, Mare Serpentis, Mare Sabaeus and the south polar cap dominated in the eyepiece view.
