  I don’t really think I NEED a new eyepiece.

I don’t really think I have a real void in my lineup.

BUT......I am in the I WANT something else mode 🙄🙄

The only spot I can really see I could “use” something is maybe between my 13T6 and 8 Stellarvue.  So that looks like maybe a 10

So my question is, if you could only have ONE 10mm eyepiece what would you get?

I’m thinking maybe leave the ETHOS out because it’s a little too much $.

Thanks for the comments, now off to work 😕

Rick

I agree with the posts above mine.  I love my 10XW; it is one of my most used eyepieces.

12.5/10mm Nikon HW.

It's not too much, it's far too much! But worth it IMO.

ER finally slowed down for a second so was able to check back in.
I used to have both a 10 Delos and 10 XW and wish I remembered what I thought about them. It was probably during one of these but/try/sell moods...

I think I wouldn’t mind having either one again . Maybe I’ll just see which pops up used somewhere first.

Or, make my wife happy, and be out this “weird mood” by then. (Her words)

+1

Or a Nikon NAV SW 10mm, also 70°.

For the same TFOV, a Baader Morpheus 9mm 76° is very close.

Started thinking about this on the way home.  Think I’m too tired

Maybe I’ll hold off and see if I like using fewer eyepieces by moving the 17.5 & 6.5 to use with my 102.  I really “want” something but I better just let the “get a new toy Rick” feeling settle down a bit....still think it’s lack of sleep talking

Hello, I'm the bad voice on your shoulder.  Nah, Rick...you NEED one.  Listen to me, Rick!  Lol!

I've got the 7mm XW, and love it.  Maybe you could go old school, and find a cool Ortho.  Or maybe both!  "Listen to us, Rick!  new toy time!"

Pentax XW 10 is a very good choice.

Are there any better eyepieces at f=10mm?

Yes!, they are.

But they have either less AFOV, or shorter eye relief, or both the less AFOV and the shorter eye relief.

Are there any exceptions?

Maybe:

The Swarovski 45x S W f=10.2mm, but it is not excatly 10mm, and it has about 3° less AFOV,

and it requires more travel into the OTA to reach the focus.

Best,

JG

I’ve never viewed through the Pentax 10 XW but I love the Delos 10.  Once I took the trouble to read the enclosed  sheet about how to use the adjustable eye cup, I found it extremely comfortable with crisp views.

My recommendation:

10mm Delos (plus Dioptrx if needed)

Of XW, Delos & Nikon SW, I have found eye placement & exit pupil behaviour best with the XW, then Nikon, last Delos. Morpheus 9mm is between XW & SW.

For 10mm exactly, I have the XW, Nikon SW & a Vixen LV. But 10mm is at the good end of 8-24 zooms, and 2x Barlowing 20mm or 3x 30mm or 4x 40mm or 5x 50mm, so a few choices....
