Yesterday I bought a used MTS-SC8 from someone locally. He said the LX3 quartz drive didn't work, and that when he pulled the front plate off he saw that some wires were disconnected, and went no further. I've now pulled that plate off and see no obviously missing connections.
I'm thinking if it's ok, I'll start this thread as a running log of what I'm doing (and questions for those who know these), in case it's useful to anyone else. First off, the mount is not the same in the manuals I've found online. Those show the scope with a tripod. This one is a steel pier mount with three legs at the bottom. It seems quite stable. I do have a manual for that mount, but for a different Meade scope.
So my first question is about the specs for the LX Quartz drive power supply. I see it uses a locking 5.5 x 2.5mm connector, and I know it's 12V. I have a schematic and it looks like the plug is tip-positive. Can anyone with an LX3 Quartz drive tell me how many mAh are required to drive this? At work I have a bunch of 12V power supplies I can hack up, so I'll just pick up the right size connector and use one of those. But I don't want to under power it.
Attached is a photo of the scope and mount.
