I just looked on .ca again, I could not find the Model 170, 10-30mm, so ‘thank you eBay’ again, lol !

And here I thought the thread was about the 8-24mm...

How are you finding this on Amazon? I can only find the Orion or Celestron zooms by searching. The 8-24mm and 7-21mm zooms from Svbony don't seem to come up.

Exact same thing I saw about an hour ago. I looked through them all for comparison sake and went with the 8-24mm Zoom. Signed up for an Amazon Prime account and ordered it with the $10 off coupon, so the SVBONY 8-24mm Zoom cost me $9 (cost of new Prime membership with $50 instant gift card notwithstanding...we were going to get that anyway).

Thanks for posting this thread.

I just ordered the 8-24 mm after reading these reviews. Looking forward to checking it out (I'm not a zoom guy).

Not up here in Canada when I looked thats exactly why I turned to eBay, it happens all the time between .ca and .com ! Items come and go all the time or you might get ‘ not available in Canada ‘, etc.

I had a similar experience with a recording I wanted to buy. Amazon had a used CD for $900. Instead I ordered a new copy from Amazon.fr for $30 (including shipping). Amazon just knows that Canadians hate zooms, just like they know that no American would ever listen to the kind of music I like.

I searched for svbony and the model number.

Thanks for the review. I've got this eyepiece on the way from Amazon and plan to use it with an 80mm Celestron Star Sense Explorer. The eyepieces that came with it were crap and I thought a zoom would be a good alternative to purchasing 2-4 individual  eyepieces. Very happy to hear that it is parfocal - that was not clear from the description.

On a side note, I think I'll need to upgrade the diagonal, as well. SVBony might be a good option for that.

From what I have seen and own and tried they are a good option for many astronomy related goodies ! Not just good, great !

First you listed erroneous information about the model in the topic of the thread as being unavailable in Amazon which you eventually apologized for and then you go off on a tangent about another model. To quote you again "Lol!"

Who really cares ? There are only a few that are perfect but I haven’t met any yet, unfortunately !  Clear Skize !    PS: And perfectionists, lol !

So much astronomy related equipment is made by the same manufacturer and then rebranded for the retailers. This 8-24mm zoom looks entirely different than the Celestron/Meade models (essentially identical EP's), so I'm looking forward to receiving mine. I like the fact that it's bigger. Almost looks like a 2" EP. Having a 2" diagonal (with a 1.25 adapter), it looks like a good fit for it.

Wait til you get it, you will like it even more. I tried it with my PST this am and the views of the sun were great, just not much activity, lol !

"Wait" being the key word. I think it ships via a very slow freighter across the ocean, and once stateside gets delivered Pony Express. laugh.gif

I like that its parfocal. My Celestron requires refocusing throughout changes. I've gotten used to it, but it would be nice to zip though different magnifications on the fly without having to refocus every time. I use my zoom on planets and I like being able to adjust to the ideal spot as seeing conditions present themselves.

Also, given your review, the size won't be an issue with my 2" diagonal as the 1.25 adapter' EP set screw is out to the edge of the 2" holder which tightens the inner ring instead directly onto the EP.

This pic shows my Celestron Zoom in the 2" diagonal...

As I mentioned somewhere previously I got my 2 from China to my doorstep in 10 days max., I would have to check. Use your tracking number and I think you will find it will get to you a lot faster than the dates they gave, I was the same, I have always found USPS has great service, mine came via Canada Post from the west coast.  PS:  Do you get the same way as we get close to Xmas, lol ?  PPS:  Waiting is part of the fun, lol !

Good to hear. I'll post up my review here after I get it.

I wouldn't say the waiting is "fun". More like anxious. Agena in the past spoiled me on wait times. I swear Agena's shipping was so fast any item from them arrived before I completed the order.

I ordered this Zoom on Amazon. I have no idea where it actually comes from.

When you start tracking it will tell you where it originated as it starts to move to its destination !

I can’t remember if I saw a size comparison somewhere or not, so I’ll put one here.

BHZ IV vs Svbony 8-24

Is the svbony available anywhere else besides amazon? I would rather do business with mom and pop.

Also available from AliExpress.com, but either way you are doing business with mom and pop.

In Q2 2020 55% of unit sales were from third-party merchants who earned $54 billion.

Almost half of those businesses generated 80-100% of their revenue with Amazon's help.

(No, I'm not affiliated with Amazon in any way except as a happy Amazon Prime customer.)

Also AliExpress.com. In stock and shipping from Hong Kong. I've received products from Svbony in as little as a week, but more typically 10-14 days.

Also Aliexpress.com, although I don't see the difference between buying from Amazon, eBay, AliExpress or any other large online retailer.

The only difference is that up here sometimes Amazon or eBay don’t carry a certain item, a certain model as happened with the Svbony zooms so you have to turn to another, 90% of the time I use Amazon, never Ali up here in Canada !
