Pentland Crater (Yellow box) has some structure on its wall that catches the light at this phase tonight and makes it appear like there is some high albedo surface shining out of the darkness.  A nice optical illusion.  Single exposure IphoneSE image nightcap app 5mm eyepiece Orion Intelliscope 14”

Wonderful image, Doolsduck!

Thank you for producing it.

I have observed the Pentland crater at some stage in the past.

But what is also remarkable is that Joseph B. Pentland was an Irish politician and geographer.

I'm not a politician, but I am Irish and I do enjoy geography - especially Lunar geography! waytogo.gif

That brighter side of the rim is something to watch out for.

Best regards,

Aubrey.

Thanks Aubrey! Glad you like it. I like chasing some of the more obscure features now. I wish i could say I’m Irish too, but I’m not as Irish as my name. 😉🤣
