you got to love the way AP scopes increase in value.  Better than playing the stock market.  I bought my classic 6" AP  12 years ago and have enjoyed seeing the value about double in those years.  Not many scopes out there you can say that for.

My house has more than doubled in 8 years, the stock market has tripled in the last 12 years.smile.gif

I can't remember seeing a Manon style APL branded as a ATCO. Also the OTA's tube looks light gray.

Sellers are always claiming telescopes are older than they are. Then this one shows the the 1967 paperwork! The BIN price of $200 is optimistic epecially since there are no legs. They also should have removed the $8 written on the box from the yard sale. lol.gif

There's a vixen 90 fl  on A Mart    but I cannot get the add to cut and paste     while I would love to add it to my vixen fluorite scopes between the c-102fl and the vixen 80fl  I am going to cool my jets

This one has a history of reported  super start tests    oth   it seems it was once a black one and now is painted white

The one I should have jumped on was the new old stick Vixen 90fl Pauli has 30 miles form here

The bulb that came with the Unitron has a 0 survival rate.  Do not know what they made the bulb or hose from, but they all dried up and crumbled to pieces.  Have seen a lot of them and always the same issue.

Sad.

I also do not know what they were made from

Old bulbs/hoses from vintage LF photography aren't rare. Some good some bad. My bet is that Unitron outsourced to an American manufacturer (Kodak was big) rather than producing them for themselves and just painted their name on the side (if that). I can't see an outdated crusty old bulb release for a camera that probably doesn't work anymore and let alone you could find the film format for (or, for that matter, be able to process that film), to be much of a deal breaker.

Then again, I'm not a big Uni fan... yet.

And apparently any old cable shutter release won’t work. It’s rather idiosyncratic. Also, there should be another adapter tube and a ring clamp for the tube that’s different from the other tube ring clamps.

It's so perfectly fantastic and irreplaceable that...the guy is selling it...I love the old fluorites and have owned them, but NO WAY does it beat a 9.25" SCT on a planet unless the SCT is never uncapped.

Quick question about the Meade 178mm in the ad:  With that dent close to the objective cell, would there be a worry that the deformation had pulled the end of the tube a bit and thrown the cell out of collimation?  I understand that with the adjustable cell that could be accommodated for, but would it be expected to impact the way the cell seated in the tube?
