Quick question about the Meade 178mm in the ad:  With that dent close to the objective cell, would there be a worry that the deformation had pulled the end of the tube a bit and thrown the cell out of collimation?  I understand that with the adjustable cell that could be accommodated for, but would it be expected to impact the way the cell seated in the tube?

The dent is superficial.  It has no effect on the collimation whatsoever.

Not to leave out the non-refractor folks, one armed orange C90, looks to be complete kit and to be in very very good condition. Seller will ship at actual shipping cost. $375 in Mooresville, NC.

That's a nice one and a steal. It has a chrome lens cell on the finder so it might be earlier than '55.

They were, but to me if I am buying a Cave, I want the heart of the Cave to be an original Cave mirror

Cage farmed out many of their Cass optics. My 1965 10” dk has Tinsley optics.

I think 1954 was the first year with the detachable cradle.

Looks like the old one knob deal from around the mid 50's. Back then things were built right.

Decent price on a 16" dob with Meade optics:  https://losangeles.c...7204107808.html

I'm not in danger of buying this myself, because I don't have the room and would probably want to refigure the mirror anyway (and don't have the time, what with all the projects ahead of it).  But for $500, someone here might be interested.

Is it just me, or are there very few interesting deals during these end times?

Edited to add:  This one I would definitely keep to myself, except I'm in Utah for a week and it'll likely be gone anyway before I could get back.  And I'd rather see someone here get it, who knows what it is:

https://losangeles.c...7203932239.html

Appears to be a fast Jaegers refractor OTA and a Cave 1" shaft mount with an extraordinarly rusty pier.  Note the eyepiece.  All for $50.

-Tim.

The objective cell and dew shield looks to be brass? Should be nice and heavy.

Dang!....you would have to post that!  foreheadslap.gif

Looking at the circled area on the CL map I may be only about a mile from the seller.

I have the same mount so I'd only be interested in the OTA.  Maybe I'll go look at it hmm.gif

That Clave thing being used as a focuser plug may be worth a bit more than $50 by itself, a lot more.   And, that finderscope may also surprise someone.

That is an excellent deal , won't last long ...

I think having someone pick it up here in Michigan is a deterrent.

Mentioning the little clam is a turn off, but it is almost unnoticeable.   (but I had to mention it)   And mentioning all the little nicks might have been nit-picking, but I try for full disclosure.  So I gave it a lower price.

What I forgot to mention is that it's SN is 770573, and in the registry.

Overall, it's really a very nice scope.  I've had it out for some outreach events, last year.  It is easily comparable to my Sears 6339a.

Zeiss APQ 130mm Fluorite Refractor  $9000.   And you thought the AP 130mm was costly.   The Tak 130mm scopes seem like bargains now.

Only about 1 hr and 15 minute drive for me, alas I don't have the cash to buy it. A goto dob would be sweet.

Kind of a kluged up mess of a 60mm Unitron (probably a 114) and the dew shield is either stripped or replaced. I wouldn’t drive an hour and a half for it.
