Opened this back up, but there were quite a number of off topic posts including posts about moderating, which is against the TOS. In all I removed about 10 posts, so consider this a reminder/warning to stay on topic.

I messaged about that. The refractor looks interesting.

EDIT: Yeah, looks like I'm going to get 'em. The refractor almost looks too good to be homemade.... hmm.

Here is something different on GW , a 12 inch DOB by Telescopics company of La Canada California. I know nothing about Dobs & will leave evaluation to others ... Has a wooden box with multiple Ep's & lots of other goodies & tripod & mount too ... Looks good to an idiot like me , as far as I know , could be junk ... https://www.shopgood.../Item/104592779

I doubt it is 12" dob.  Most likely a 10" dob with a 12" tube.  Telescopics was around from about 1980's till the early 90's.   That does not look like their typical dob base.

Yeah , I thought the mount looked much better than the scope.

Realistically, the fork is worth the $80, you can even use it for other maks with some work, much better than the ETX 90mm fork.

AP 800 mount   $950

It's a bit long in the tooth.  I'd go with a used G11 instead, or a used Sky Watcher Pro.

It is not a "dob".   It has a homemade GEM.

that would replace charm with utility which is not what the classics forum is all about.

Sadly, someone offered that lady $600 for all the scopes and took them even though I had agreed upon a deal and time.

60mm Unitron - no price listed.

Looks brand new. The Unihex still has the paper under the caps. Mid-60's vintage. Sounds like they think it is still worth $700.

It maybe long in the tooth ruth, but i sure loved mine. Never even hooked up the drives and could hand move it like butter at 450x with a 6" ED. Heck of a buy and tempted, but not local.

Telescopics rolled over around 1990.  I had to get SKY&TELL on their butts to get me my 12.5" F/7.5 Mirror i waited 2 years for.

Ubiqitous Tanzutsu-made catadioptic reflector in Val des Monts, Quebec (just across the river from Ottawa) for $80 or reasonable offer. I believe this is a Bird Jones design? What I find even scarier is the fork mount and tripod. It looks like it would shake like a leaf if you as much as breathed on it.

Lafayette 60 x 800 Near Toledo, OH - $65

No makers mark on the focuser. Maybe a knowledgeable member could chime in on whether it is an Asahi Jupiter rebrand? Here is a link to a post with lots of insight.

Unitron

I just wanted you to know that you inspired me.  I'm in Kingsport, TN and had seen this ad, came here to research and got motivated when I saw your post.  So I drove through the mountains to get it yesterday.  I'll start a new thread with pics!

Awesome, congrats Jbslus2! I checked on it this morning and saw it had sold. Very glad a fellow CNer got this. Please do start a thread, will be interesting to see an early Unitron.

TBH, if the Unitron had not sold by end of this week, I would have made the trek but t can’t afford the time, and my wife and daughter thank you for saving them from yet another telescope in their house.

Hopefully the transaction went well. The seller seemed amicable as he had done research and knew he could have asked for much more.

Clear classic skies,

My
