A heads-up for those planning to pair up existing eyepieces. We all know there are about 7 versions of Meade's 26mm SP and at least two of all the other SP's - but watch the SWA's as well. I just picked up a 13.8 SWA to match up with my modern one and the earlier, Japanese version has a much larger eyelens. I haven't tried it yet but I don't think it's gonna be a good match. I think I'll find another Japanese one and peddle the newer one. :foreheadslap:

Hi John:

I've suggested to people for a long time that they be very careful trying to match Meade eyepieces by buying singles from Astromart.

Meade has been making a regular and a short (ETX) version of each of the Plossls. And, they've been made in plants in Japan, Taiwan, and now China. Not to the same specs.

There are several dealers online who will make sure you get a matched pair, but an Astromart purchase is questionable. Many people have encountered the same problem as you.

I think that's why we never hear very much about the Meade eyepieces in any of the binoviewer groups.

Clear skies,
Jim
