I have read in several threads that new owners hope and search for it. I may be about to get one, I may not. I have so far resisted buying this one, and the picture seller posted has helped.

I bought and later sold a Tasco red tube refractor last year (60x900 with the built-in reflex finder) and it came with the pen / light. It worked too.

Is it an astronaut pen? The one that writes upside-down?

I would guess over the past 30 years I have been collecting classics that I have had about 10-12 of these Nite Writer pens.  I agree they are somewhat rare and pretty cool.  But, for me at least, not a single one of the ones I have owned has worked.  So, the question should be, is it in the kit and does it work?

Reminds me of a meeting I was in and my boss had a fancy looking pen. One of the younger engineers asked if it was one of those weightless pens (meaning an astronaut pen). My boss held up the pen and let it drop to the desk, shrugged and said I guess not.

Mine works, original box, two writing tips. The light is fine, the writing tips are a bit scratchy now.

I suspect my experience may not be the norm.  These are great rare pens.
