Whoever posted that is flexing hard by using the Redcat 51 as a guide scope. bow.gif moneyeyes.gif

I like the looks of it but I'm not sure if I like the idea of focusing that way.

If it follows the 51's design, then it'll focus just like a normal camera lens. I like it.

BUT, yes, it is more "handsy" once it's on the mount. However, with the bahtinov mask, you're really going to focus for like... 5 seconds.

Understand that, but if you want to add motor focus...

so it's going to be 71mm petzval? I assume it would have helical focuser, similar to 51?

All that red & black snazzy colour scheme, hard to see the focuser...

Will there be 70 Spacecats, Goldcats, Whitecats, Tabbycats....?

I don't think a helical focuser on a 71mm Apo is the best. That's my opinion anyway, and it might not count for much.

I agree. A r&p would be much better, but less camera lens-like.

I Think they are putting premium on the aesthetics.
We all agree that it is beautiful but the focusing mechanism can be a source headache, unless you install a motor.

Personally I like the helical focused, very easy to mount and use the ZWO EAF, keeping everything in-line and balanced along the length axis.

I don’t facebook, so I have no idea if the specs are posted there, but I don’t think I’ve yet seen what the focal length is/will be for the Redcat 71.  (Redact 51 is 250mm)

I may replace both my Redcat 51 and Zenithstar 73 with this new Redcat 71.  For now, mounted on the CEM40, but later plans to mount it on the RST-135.  (Best laid plans...)
