Has anyone had experience recoating the reflective surface on a secondary mirror in the center of a corrector plate for a Mak? Majestic Coatings and Spectrum seem to not have the capabilities to mask the perimeter to recoat the center.

If the secondary mirror is part of the Maksutov's corrector (Gergory-Maksutov) this is going to require special equiptment (a mask over the corrector part so only the secondary gets aluminized.) Basically, here, only the original manufacture can perform this work.

If the secondary is separate (Massutov-Cassegrainian) you can remove the secondary and have it realuminized separately.

There is nothing complicated about doing it, it cam be as simple as a piece of foil with a hole in it.  Coating companies look at doing one of these every five years and it's just not worth the bother.

Maybe if you were to offer making the mask yourself you might be able to get a coating company to agree.

Could make the mask yourself and spray silver. It's inside a sealed OTA so it wouldn't tarnish fast; with Angel Guard on it you could probably get half a decade out of it.
