Hello everyone!

My CGE-Pro had a motor failure and motors are unobtainium.

I have just placed an order for a CGX-L to replace it.

I can't find any confirmation from the TDM web page that my Telescope Drive Master (TDM because we must an acronym for everything) will fit the new CGX-L.

Can anyone shed some light on this? I will miss the TDM but on the other hand it will pay for part of my new CGX-L if I do have to sell it.

Thank you for your time.

Once upon a time I owned a Ioptron45 mount with a TDM attached to it.

I loved it. I could image unguided with a Esprit100 for 30 minutes easy.

Then I  wanted to upgrade to a Ioptron CEM60.....

But I could not figure out how to attach the TDM-encoder to that mount.

So I got myself a 10Micron. lol.gif

But I must say that I was really impressed by the performance of the TDM.

Maybe you need to look around for a fine-machine shop/instrument maker to build you a converter/adaptor to your new mount.

It would really be a shame if you couldn't use the TDM anymore.

After all, they don't come cheap. And it's a great device.

Succes with your quest.

It doesn't look like the CGX-L has any way of accessing the RA axis.

Not possible.  The end of the RA shaft of the CGX-L is covered by the homing sensor board.  As a result, there is no way to mount the TDM.

I happen to be looking for a used TDM Drivemaster. A CNC shop is currently producing custom adapters for my Avalon Uno mount.

Some CGE-Pro owners have successfully installed the Scitech servo controller which allows the use of alternate servo motors. It should also be possible to install a stepper motor goto system.
