I was just given a 1981 Orange tube C8 by a fellow CNer :)

Now I just need a few hardware pieces to complete it.  I have the OTA on the original fork mount, a wedge and tripod.  I need the bolts to hold the wedge to the tripod and the mount to the wedge.  Can anyone tell me what thread size these would be?

The other part we couldn't find was the power cord for the AC drive motor, the three prong oval end.  That I will do more searching for.  It is a beautiful scope with great optics.  I can't wait to try it out on Mars :)

I figure just some bolts with wing nuts would work for the wedge to tripod mounting and simple bolts for mount to wedge, doesn't have to be stock parts.

Thanks in advance.

If I recall correctly, scope to wedge is 3/8-16 and wedge to tripod is 5/16-18 thread.  Might have changed since my mid 1970s model.

The cord you need is an HP or Belden PH163.  Search eBay, they were used on a lot of older HP test equipment.

The scope to wedge bolts length is critical. Too long and they can interfere with the mechanism. You might want to ask about the correct length in the Classics section of these forums.

Thanks so much for the information.  I was able to find some 3/8 16 stainless cap screws for the base to wedge, and some 5/16 18 bolts with plastic knobs at Lowe's, those should work great!

The cord will take a little more searching.  I read that Belden/Volex has stopped making them so will be NOS or used for that one.

Not cheap, but at least it is a source.
