Unfortunately, that thought never occurred to me and it may have actually happened. I may have blown it. I don't know yet.

I guess my excitement and hope of justice overwhelmed me and clouded my judgement.

Thanks,

Q

I am really hoping to hear a happy ending to his. Best of luck.

It's not looking good. Too long for "The system" to respond. The trail may have gone cold. Still waiting for something.

A C14 and mount showed up in the classifieds today at a suspiciously low price of $3500.  Makes me wonder.

Avg used price for them. Many are cheaper.

Is anyone missing an atlas EQ-G mount head? Someone without any astronomy knowledge is listing one under highly unusual circumstances in around the Orlando area. PM me for details and listing.

I saw that ad.  No tripod so i never jumped.

FYI:

I received word that the stolen equipment listed on FB has been listed as sold. So, the trail ends. The police were less than useless. A few people here were in contact with the seller but, he was very slow about responding. I suspect he got spooked. At this point I guess it's all gone for good. To say that we have no faith left in the legal or judicial system of this country would be an understatement, at best.

Our most sincere thanks to those who did try to help. We only wish that it had turned out better.

As a last hail Mary, we may try putting a request into the FBI since this is now a proven case of selling stolen property. It's a long shot for sure but, we've got nothing more to lose.

Again, thank you all.

Update to report #22 here on theft of my Astronomy equipment from a storage locker in Houston area.

Through searching online sales outlets, I found my 11" Celestron listed for sale. I met the sellers and in order to prove the scope was mine I bought it back. I then went to the police and asked for their help in arresting the thief and to aid in getting the rest of my items back. They were a complete lack of help or even concern. They missed a scheduled meeting at their storage locker with the thieves by over an hour and the location was less than a mile from police headquarters theft recovery group location. During the time I purchased back my scope, control head, and tripod one of the thieves disclosed they had a large amount of astronomy items in their double wide storage building and described in detail many of my stolen items. Inside the box I had place my 11" scope into I had also placed inside a cardboard box containing a focus shield and this box with my name and address still on it was still inside the box! The police still were no help and missed the second meeting when I had then no choice but to buy back my rare 14X100 Orion binoculars, still in their case with my receipt with my name and address still on it inside the box. They had lost the lens covers but told me they loved the views it had. So still in their hands are all my eyepiece collections of a lifetime (4 cases of them) and my 6" Galileo Refractor and other items.

They well may have quite a few items similar to mine stolen in the Houston, TX area. Just wish we had a police/sheriff that would actually do their duty and help!

If you want to explore any items, you have lost in Houston area respond here.

Good god man, I'm furious just reading this. I'm also really alarmed at the risks you have been forced to take. I would suggest taking legal action against the police force though I doubt it would have any real beneficial outcome. I'm willing to bet that storage unit is stuffed full of hot items, likely some sort of local organized crime. Be careful man and good luck.

Unfortunately the units responsible for theft crimes are often under-staffed by lackluster officers who have had so little luck in recovering stolen merchandise they just don't seem to give a ****.  You're not revealing anything new to me.

You should contact the Chief of Police AND your local city/country representative and report the unacceptable behavior.  I do understand what you're going thru as I had a trailer with contents stolen and had to do essentially 95% of the investigation and leg work to secure my belonging and trailer.

You might also contact the Texas Rangers as it's likely the theft ring goes beyond the specific Houston area making it a grey area where they can help.  Explain what you've gone through and they might be able to help you out.  It's worth a shot.

Actually, if you want to make waves, see if you can get a local news channel in on it.  Nothing lights a political fire like local news.

This Questar eyepiece/diopter tube was stolen from my friends house on the 16th of June. It was sold on Ebay on the 17th. If you know of its whereabouts please shoot me a message. The seller obviously did not know what he was selling, simply using the info on the box which is for a Televue adapter for modern eyepieces.

As you know, this item from the 60's is nearly impossible to replace today. I hope someone here can help.

Regards, Don

Were you unable to get help from ebay, even just finding out who the buyer was, or having it reported to local police?
