It does unfortunately happen. But our community is quite large and spread all over this planet, so there are plenty of ears on the ground!

 

There is a new pinned thread in the Equipment Forum, here, where you can report any stolen astronomy equipment, yours, someone else's or if you suspect that something might be stolen.

 

Hopefully it does not have to be used much, but best to have it as a hub of communication on such matters!
