I’m back.

Non topic update: after my trip to Las Vegas I had to be hospitalized for a non cv 19 health issue for many days including a surgery. Thankfully my better half is a nurse and I was able to be transferred to her floor and received VIP care. Good news I’m 100% back to normal business.

Topic related update: Finally able to finish building the optical testing equipment this weekend leading into next week. Should have results from testing by next weekend.

I should have laser spectrometer testing done and concluded in a month on the composition of main reflector and other items to better date the instrument.

I’ve been able to procure by way of gift the original spotting scope from my neighbor. Finished cleaning the optical lenses on it and it’s not bad. There’s a delamination of the primary lens nearly exceeding 40% on the primary, convex/concave. Any thoughts about how to release and re-affix them they are two separate lenses that are affixed together?

focuser for the Springfield Mount... I’ve found markings on the spotter scope I’m hoping that maybe by chance the main telescope would have a similar focuser. Pictures are in the next post of related items.

I hope everyone has been well and once again I greatly appreciate any insight in this project. I’m hoping to have it functional for a meeting in early-mid 2021 as a fully restored instrument, and maybe meet some of the wonderful people whom have lent their vast knowledge to assist me in the restoration of it.

Internal focuser lenses. One of the lenses on the magnifier was pressure locked into place and non removable.

Spotting scope primary lens.

Adhesive between the elements is going.  Remove the lens from cell (black part) and toss it in a tupperware container of acetone for a few days, it'll dissolve the rest, you can clean it up and remount it without adhesive, you can even "air space" it if you want.
