I am seeking suggestions for controlling my 8SE via a tablet using CPWI.  I do not want to use Skyportal.

I have:  (All Celestron Brand)

WIFI Module

Autofocuser

I use a separate laptop for controlling a Neximage 10.

I have had suggestions of a Microsoft Surface, but I feel that is too much for my budget.

So whats out there for $200.00 or so.

£200? Probably nothing, unless you find a used bargain. CPWI is a Windows Application for PC and a Tablet will embrace IOS or Android OS. So you would need to run it in a Windows emulator. I dont expect a low budget tablet to cope with tne resource load. I like CPWI as it integrates with Sharpcap etc. But all of these are Windows too. What's wrong with controlling all from your current laptop?

But this question  smacks of a wider question. How do you control things at the scope when your HC is in Boot loader mode or otherwise inoperative having invoked CPWI? I believe that there are solutions, but it's not something that has ever troubled me as I have established dual computer remote control using Windows Remote Desktop. But the SkyPortal APP seems to be easiest as surely all you need is direction buttons and GoTo?

You can find loads of Windows 10 tablets for sale on eBay. A Microsoft Surface Pro 4 can be had for less than $400. For less than $200, you won't find a decent Windows tablet that can do much.

I have a Dell laptop that is lighter and not much thicker than my iPad Pro. It has a, i7 2.8 Ghz CPU,  512 gig SSD, 16 gig of RAM, bought used on eBay for about $300.  There are many distributors that repurpose retired business computers.  You can get a nice computer at a bargain price if you look around!
