Last night, I started getting huge RA spikes in my guiding every 5 minutes which is the period of the RA worm gear.  I was concerned that the worm gear got damaged but did not know how that could have happened. I am very careful with it. Today I opened it up, cleaned the worm and re-greased.  No obvious damage or debris.  Tonight, did a quick polar alignment and without being cooled down properly I was back to my typical 0.40 to 0.50" total RMS.  It must have been debris in the worm. The RA looks very smooth now.  I may do a clean and re-grease as annual maintenance now.  (Mount is 2 yrs old).  Anyway, big relief that everything is ok.

Cleaned and greased the CEM60-EC this morning. Can't hurt. smile.png
