I am wondering how this motor would fit on the SVP.

In particular, would the piece of the mount that covers the RA motor still fit?

Orion's RA motor has a more rounded motor housing.  Similarly, the piece of the mount covering the RA motor is shaped differently on the SVP compared to the EQ5.  On the EQ5, it is more boxy.

Maybe Orion had to make the RA motor housing more rounded to fit inside the RA motor cover?

Has anyone tried putting a non-Orion RA motor on the SkyView Pro?

Any insight would be helpful!

It is not simply a matter of saving money by going for just the RA motor, as the "Skywatcher Enhanced Dual-Axis Motor Drive" would still be preferred (if it would fit properly on the SVP):  it has lunar and solar tracking and autoguide functionality, and the Orion system does not.

Wow, something I can answer!!!

I have a SVP. Hand controller, leatherette battery bag, everything matches what is on mine.

They should fit both made by Synta. However, you can do goto for that kind of money.

I don't see any reason why it would not fit.
