The seeing was mediocre at best with Mars sitting at 50 degrees elevation. High haze and fog were moving in fast and I only was able to obtain three captures. I ended up stacking the best 5% of over 64,000 frames.

Scope: Mewlon 180c

Camera: QHY462 (color)

Mount: Great Polaris DX

Processed with: Autostakkert, Registax, and Gimp

Converted to PNG for posting.

I was hoping this would turn out better. I may work on it some more later in the day.

Thanks for having a look!

Hi Terry,

That's a great photo and what's even greater about it is the fact it gives a person an idea of what a visual image of Mars might look like with very good seeing in an 8" scope. Can you tell me the name of the feature with the little fingers (fronds) and the large dark marking they originate from?
